ChaCha Switches Over To Paypal

ChaCha is a company that pays you by the question as an independent contractor to answer texts sent in via consumers' cell phones. You are paid between 10 and 20 cents per questions and can do this from your PC or laptop at home. ChaCha previously had one of their two payment options set as payment via First Internet Bank, but have severed their relationship with them as you were required to open an account with this bank online and required to pay $2 each time you deposit ChaCha earnings into your First Internet Bank Account. This happened yesterday, April 26, 2012. ChaCha Guides and other self-employed contractors can now attach their PayPal to their account for payment.

The cost to transfer funds is now reduced to $1.  Its a little better, because it definitely adds up!  People who work for ChaCha can now log into their pay me now option and it will ask them to set the payment method instead of where it normally says change your payment method.  ChaCha contractors also have the option of earning $150 and they may then ask for a check from ChaCha.

The benefits of having a First Internet Bank were one; workers could pay themselves any day of the week at any time of the day instantly and immediately have the ability either withdraw funds from their ChaCha First Internet Bank account check/debit card via ATM, point of sale systems, or they could buy goods and pay for the goods via check card with their First Internet Bank Card.

Unfortunately, with Paypal, the dollar you save to initiate payment isn't much of a savings at all as far as convenience goes.  Even when you have a Paypal set up to allow you to direct deposit your funds into your checking/savings account, it takes anywhere from two to three days for the funds to get there, depending on Paypal and your bank.  Contractors are still charged a dollar, and their ability to access emergency funds and to work for funds they might need immediately has been taken away.

There were things about First Internet Bank that were irritating, but I was willing to deal with them, because the ability to pay myself anytime of the day in an emergency, or when I felt the need was wonderful.  I've never had this option with any other company.  It was aggravating to have to pay a $2 fee, but this fee was no matter how much you chose to take out.  If you were to wait for the funds to accrue, the $2 became a very small cost for the convenience of accessing your funds anytime of the day, 7 days a week.

The system with First Internet Bank and ChaCha would often go down for updates and it wouldn't work and you could not be paid until later, but the convenience was there most days of the week, most times of the day.  I could literally cash out, go to the store, and purchase something minutes later.  I think this new system is nice, because guides save a dollar, but I would  have preferred if they kept their relationship with First Internet Bank and Paypal became a third option.  This is a loss of convenience to me.

I hope this feature benefits other guides and ChaCha contractors, but its not benefiting me, unfortunately.

Sorry this option is not as convenient for you. They should have kept both options open for people... Good info here. G+1ed as I am out of votes today.

I like paypal. You did state your thoughts well here so was awarded a recommendation from me.

Thanks, Roberta.  I like Paypal, too, but I am sad that the pay me now feature isn't as instant as it used to be :(

Thanks, Bethany.  I wish they did keep both options open.
